publishMove your newsletter here
Your readers agreed to hear from you, not from a platform. If your current service can export your subscriber list, you can bring it with you. This is what the move looks like.
Export your subscriber list
Substack, beehiiv, Mailchimp, Ghost, Kit and most other services let you download your subscribers as a CSV file from their settings or audience page. Download it and keep it private: it holds your readers’ email addresses.
Create your newsletter here
Sign up, name your newsletter and write its description. Creating a newsletter and publishing to it is free.
Import your readers
Open Audience, choose Manage subscribers, then Import subscribers, and upload the file as it came from your old service. You see a preview before anything is saved, you confirm that these readers agreed to receive your newsletter, and anyone who had unsubscribed stays unsubscribed. Imported readers are not sent a new confirmation email. The free plan imports up to 2,500 readers; Writer Pro has no limit.
Bring your best issues
Paste past issues into the editor. It accepts Markdown, including headings, lists, tables and code. Publish them without sending, so your archive is here on day one and your readers are not emailed old work.
Tell your readers once
Send a short issue from your old platform saying where the newsletter is moving and why, then send your first issue from here. Readers who reply or open the first issue teach inbox providers that your new sender is wanted.
You can leave the same way
Your list is yours. Export it as a CSV file from the same page on any plan, at any time.
Paid members
Reader payments here go to your own Stripe account. If readers pay you on another platform today, email support@publishhaven.com before you switch and we will tell you plainly what can move and what readers would need to do again.
What it costs
Writing, publishing, a public archive and free subscribers cost nothing. Writer Pro is $12 a month and adds scheduling, audio, reader questions and the other tools on the plans page. When readers pay you, Publish Haven keeps 5% on Free, 2% on Writer Pro, 0% on Studio, and Stripe charges its card fee. See what that comes to for your numbers.
